Ingredients for Slow Cooker French Dip Roast Sandwiches:

How to make Slow Cooker French Dip Roast Sandwiches:

Place the chuck roast in the slow cooker. Top with the au jus seasoning, beef broth, and sliced onion (if using).

Cover and cook on low for 8 hours, or until the meat is fork-tender.

Preheat your oven’s broiler. Place the hoagie rolls on a baking sheet, open them, and add a slice of provolone cheese to each roll. Broil for about 2 minutes, or until golden brown.

Shred the cooked roast with two forks.

Fill each hoagie roll with the shredded beef and serve it with a side of au jus.

How to store leftovers crock pot French dip recipe:

Fridge: While you might want to store the meat and au jus sauce in separate containers, it is actually best to store them in one airtight container to keep the meat flavorful and juicy to create an easy dinner for up to 5 days.

Tips and tricks for making an easy beef dip sandwich:

Meat to use:

I like to make this slow cooker recipe with a chuck roast, but a rump roast could work as well. Just be sure it has a good amount of marbling to produce a juicy beef roast with so much flavor.

Do I need to use a toasted hoagie?

You do not! The best way to make this easy dinner sandwich recipe is to slice the roll, fill it with the beef and cheese, then place it in the broiler where the hoagie will be toasted.

If you toast the hoagie in advance before filling it, it may become burnt.

What cheese to use for dip sandwiches:

How to make the cheese melty:

Once you have the roll loaded up with the seasoned meat, place a slice of cheese on top, and then when your oven broiler is hot, carefully place the baking sheet in the broiler for 2-3 minutes.

While this is a great way to get melted cheese, you will want to be sure you keep an eye on the sandwich as it can turn from perfectly melted to horribly burnt, fast.
