- hoagie rolls
How to Make Philly Cheese Steak Casserole
Step 1: Cook the ground beef until it is 50% of the way cooked through. I like to use this meat chopper to break up the meat as I am cooking it.
Step 2: Add the peppers and onions, and cook until the ground beef is done. Remove any excess grease and add the cream cheese. Stir it up and let everything melt and get so creamy and delicious.
Step 3: Pour everything into a greased pan and top with provolone. Bake!
Step 4: Toast the hoagie rolls in a little butter on the stove
Step 5: Assemble your sandwiches and enjoy!
Recipe Notes
Use lean ground beef. If you use higher-fat ground beef, the casserole will be too greasy. If you want to get rid of any excess grease, cover a spatula with a paper towel and use that to sop up some of the grease in the pan while cooking.
Sub the ground beef for ground turkey or ground chicken, if you like.
If you don’t have steak seasoning, you can make a homemade one with ingredients you have in your spice cabinet. There are tons of recipes out there.
Easily double or half this recipe. To make a double batch, make double the amount and use two 9×13 pans. If you want a smaller portion, half the recipe and bake it in a small baking dish, like an 8×8.
I’ve been watching Julie’s cooking videos on YouTube (which are awesome by the way) and found this recipe to use up the ground beef in our freezer. It turned out amazing! I liked the simple ingredients. After adding cream cheese we ended up skipping the oven step and scooping the beef mixture directly into toasted buns with melted provolone! I doubled the recipe so now we can enjoy it on another night too. Thank you Julie for your recipe!
Wow this is awesome! So much cheaper with the ground beef. I didnโt have steak seasoning and used garlic powder, salt, and chili powder instead. Also had to sub in cottage cheese to make up for less cream cheese. Worked out great! Crowd pleaser!
So good! Made it for me family, parents and sister and her family and everyone loved it! Tastes so good freshly made, but also reheats really well for leftovers! Adding to our rotation.
I just wanted to mention to ya, I remember watching this one and on ur vid u also almost forgot the steak seasoning!lol I don’t see it listed in the directions anywhere, but I know it just gets tossed in while cooking the burger, onion an bell peppers.Just in case anyone missed ur awesome vids!๐
I made this for my family today, and it was really good! My husband loved it. I told my two picky kids they were cheeseburger sandwiches and they are them without complaining. The cheese makes everything so creamy that they didn’t really notice all the peppers, which ordinarily aren’t their favorite veggie. Definitely take the time to get the hoagie rolls crispy so they don’t get soggy.
Amazing!! I was skeptical about using ground beef, but you can’t even tell the difference, my husband and son loved it! Thank you for sharing this recipe!!!
Hi Julia, thanks for all your yummy and easy recipes. I’m definitely gonna make this one๐๐ฟ๐ฆ
