  • Protein: use either lean ground beef or ground turkey
  • Soup: you will need a can of cream of mushroom soup
  • Tomatoes: use diced tomatoes to add great flavor
  • Rice: for this rice casserole recipe I like to use long grain uncooked white rice
  • Liquid: you will need water to make sure the rice cooks properly
  • Cheese: I like to use shredded Colby jack cheese or cheddar cheese
  • Seasoning: you will need to have salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and oregano

How to make Hamburger Rice Casserole:

To a large skillet over medium high heat add in the lean ground beef, break the beef up and brown ground beef until cooked through.

Once cooked remove any excess grease from the pan using a strainer.

Tips and tricks for making this Mexican ground beef casserole:

What type of meat to use for an easy casserole dish:

I like to use lean ground beef for this quick dinner, but ground turkey or ground chicken would also be great options to use.

More add-ins for this meat mixture:

  • Frozen corn or canned corn drained
  • Black beans
  • Chopped bell peppers

Rice to use in this easy casserole:

I would suggest using a type of white rice. I enjoy using either a long grain white rice or jasmine rice. However, I would not suggest using brown rice in this recipe as it needs a longer cooking time than white rice.
