Stuffing is one of those pretty divisive Thanksgiving dishes. You either love it or you hate it! I am on the side of love, because I love bread and Thanksgiving flavors like rosemary and thyme. If you need an Easy Thanksgiving Stuffing recipe, I’ve got you! This Easy Thanksgiving Stuffing takes just 15 minutes to put together, bakes in under an hour, and tastes amazing.
Easy Thanksgiving Stuffing Recipe
Okay, did you know that you’re actually not supposed to cook your stuffing inside of the turkey? If you cook your stuffing inside of your turkey, the turkey will be perfectly cooked, but the stuffing inside will be totally uncooked still! And if you wait until the stuffing inside is totally cooked, the turkey will be overcooked. And we all know that there is nothing worse than a dry turkey!
If you cook your stuffing outside of your turkey, it’s technically called dressing, not stuffing. But dressing just reminds me of the stuff you put on salad, so I’m going to keep calling it stuffing. Anyway, enough about random stuffing facts! Let’s get to the recipe.
Thanksgiving Stuffing Ingredients
This stuffing recipe is easy and quick, so there isn’t any meat in it. This is a fast, no-frills stuffing recipe that tastes like classic Thanksgiving! For this recipe, you’ll need:
- yellow onion
- celery
- butter
- dried cubed bread: this recipe works best with old bread, so buy it a few days in advance, and let it sit out for a day or two before you make your stuffing!
- chicken broth
- fresh parsley: adds a yummy fresh flavor
- dried rosemary: my favorite herb!
- dried thyme: the thyme, in my opinion, really makes it taste like thanksgiving, but you could use sage as well
- salt and pepper
How to Make Easy Stuffing
If you’ve never made stuffing before, don’t be intimidated. It’s really just a bread casserole!
First, preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Next, melt your butter in a large pot over medium heat. Use this cool vegetable chopper to chop your onion and celery! Add your chopped celery and onion, cooking until they are soft. This will take about 10 minutes.
After the veggies are soft, pour the butter/veggies mixture into a large bowl, along will all of the remaining ingredients. Stir it all together gently, but well, making sure everything is incorporated, and being careful not to smoosh the bread.
Add your stuffing mixture to a greased 9×13 baking dish and cover with foil. Bake for half an hour, then uncover and bake for an additional 15 minutes, until the top is golden brown. Enjoy!
