Ingredients for Easy Chicken Parmesan
- Chicken: when making this recipe I use chicken breasts
- Flour: I use all-purpose flour for making the breaded chicken
- Eggs: grab some large eggs for this recipe, they don’t need to be at room temperature
- Breadcrumbs: I like to use Italian breadcrumbs for the added flavor
- Cheese: you will need shredded Parmesan cheese and shredded mozzarella cheese
- Seasonings: salt, pepper, Italian seasoning
- Oil: I often use olive oil, but avocado oil can work too
- Pasta: traditional spaghetti noodles are perfect
- Sauce: a jar of your favorite spaghetti pasta sauce or homemade marinara sauce
How to make Easy Chicken Parmesan
Bring a large pot of water to a boil, add the pasta in, and cook according to the package instructions. Drain and set to the side.
To a small pot on the stove add the spaghetti sauce. Let simmer for 5 minutes.
Slice each chicken breast in half horizontally. This will make the chicken a lot more tender and help the chicken cook evenly.
Season the chicken on each side with a dash of salt and pepper and then set up your breading station.
Place the flour on a plate.
Crack the eggs in another plate then whisk well.
To a third plate add the panko, Parmesan cheese, and seasonings stir well.
Coat the chicken in some of the flour then dip in the egg last coat in the panko mixture well. Set to the side. Repeat for all of the chicken.
Heat olive oil in a large skillet on medium heat until the oil is hot. Normally it takes about 2 minutes. Cook chicken in the hot oil for about 3-4 minutes on each side or until the chicken is cooked through. Remove to a plate lined with paper towels to absorb any excess oil.
Carefully pour about 1/4 cup of the hot spaghetti sauce over each piece of chicken then sprinkle with the mozzarella cheese.
Serve this over a bed of spaghetti on a dinner plate with extra sauce on top and some fresh basil.
