Baked Manicotti is such a delicious and decadent meal that’s not too hard to make at home. Make tasty, restaurant-worthy manicotti at home in under an hour.
How to Make Manicotti
Making Manicotti is a three-stage process, but don’t get scared. Let’s break it down. Just a tip- always read the recipe all the way through before you start it, so you know a general idea of what you’re doing before you start. It helps sooooo much.
First, prepare your ingredients.
This includes boiling the manicotti and making the cheese mixture.
Make your manicotti according to package directions, and strain. I love using this strainer so I don’t lose any of the yummy pasta out the side of the pot. Boil your manicotti until just al dente. Don’t boil them until they’re super soft or they’ll get extra mushy in the oven.
Mix all of the ingredients for the filling together in a small bowl.
Second, fill the manicotti and assemble.
This is probably the hardest part of the whole process, but don’t get scared. Here’s a lesson on how to fill manicotti.
The easiest way to do this is to add your cheese mixture to a Ziploc bag with one corner cut off and pipe it into each tube. One by one, add your filling to each manicotti tube. If you try to add the cheese filling to the pasta with a spoon or fork or some other tool, you’ll find that it’s very difficult and will take you forever and you’ll probably just end up adding it to a piping bag anyway. Don’t ask how I know this, lol.
Add those to your baking dish with your cheese and sauce!
Third, bake.
Set your timer for 40 minutes and try not to get too impatient. It’s so worth the wait.
What to Serve with Baked Manicotti
If you’re wanting to serve this dish with some sort of side, I’d recommend a steamed veggie or some kind of salad. Something that won’t take a lot of time to prepare since this dish is a little more time intensive than some others that I share.
You could make my favorite side salad, or even just pick up a bag of Ceaser salad from Costco. Or, if you’re really looking for a carb-laden meal, pick up some garlic bread from the store. Yum!
Whatever you do, make sure you have dessert ready before so you can treat yourself after making such an amazing meal. If you have older kids at home, have them make these Chocolate Peanut Butter Cake Mix Cookies for you as a reward! We can dream, right?!
