Ingredients for Easy Chicken Parmesan

easy chicken Parmesan ingredients
  • Chicken: when making this recipe I use chicken breasts
  • Flour: I use all-purpose flour for making the breaded chicken
  • Eggs: grab some large eggs for this recipe, they don’t need to be at room temperature
  • Breadcrumbs: I like to use Italian breadcrumbs for the added flavor
  • Cheese: you will need shredded Parmesan cheese and shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Seasonings: salt, pepper, Italian seasoning
  • Oil: I often use olive oil, but avocado oil can work too
  • Pasta: traditional spaghetti noodles are perfect
  • Sauce: a jar of your favorite spaghetti pasta sauce or homemade marinara sauce

How to make Easy Chicken Parmesan

Bring a large pot of water to a boil, add the pasta in, and cook according to the package instructions. Drain and set to the side.

To a small pot on the stove add the spaghetti sauce. Let simmer for 5 minutes.

Slice each chicken breast in half horizontally. This will make the chicken a lot more tender and help the chicken cook evenly.

Season the chicken on each side with a dash of salt and pepper and then set up your breading station.

Heat olive oil in a large skillet on medium heat until the oil is hot. Normally it takes about 2 minutes. Cook chicken in the hot oil for about 3-4 minutes on each side or until the chicken is cooked through. Remove to a plate lined with paper towels to absorb any excess oil.

Serve this over a bed of spaghetti on a dinner plate with extra sauce on top and some fresh basil.

How to store leftover traditional chicken parmesan:

Fridge: Once the cheesy rice has cooled down to room temperature, scoop the leftovers into an airtight container and store it in the fridge for 4-5 days.

Tips and tricks for making delicious chicken Parmesan:

How to get even thickness for boneless chicken breasts:

Often times chicken is pretty thick on one end and thin on the other. In order to get the chicken closer to the same thickness so it can cook evenly, you can wrap the chicken in plastic wrap and then hit it with a rolling pin or a meat mallet until you have your desired thickness.

Chicken parm recipe but make it healthy:

If you want a way to enjoy the flavors of a classic chicken parmesan recipe, but try and make it healthier, try using zucchini noodles or protein pasta instead of spaghetti noodles.

Type of breadcrumbs to use:

When you are making this easy dinner recipe you can simply use the Italian panko breadcrumbs, or you can use the plain breadcrumbs and then add your favorite seasonings to make your ideal breadcrumb mixture.

My 3 year old son loves this recipe. As a working mom this is becoming my favorite recipe to make on night I work last and need to make dinner.

Thank you so much for the great, fast and easy recipe! So yummy and easy! My husband absolutely loved this as dinner and was very impressed with the weeknight treat. My kids loved it too, they are 6 and 2 and picky eaters. I was able to cook this in 30 minutes with prep and cleanup. But, I’m slower because I was also dealing with a crawling and curious 8 month baby who kept getting into everything in the kitchen. As well as my toddler who wanted to help and also wanted changed into 3 different princess dresses 🤣
Recipe was easy and while the chicken was cooking I had time to wrangle my 3 kids.
    Will make again!
