How to Make Pork Chops and Baked Beans

This recipe comes together in just about half an hour. First, season the pork chops with the spices. Add the pork chops to a large skillet on the stove with some oil, and cook on each side for a few minutes, or until the outside is golden brown and a nice crust forms.
Once the internal temperature reaches 140โ„‰, the pork chops are done and you can put them on a plate to rest. Let them rest there for 5 minutes before serving or cutting.

For the beans, add all of the ingredients into the Instant Pot (if you don’t have one you need one!) and cook on high pressure for 8 minutes. Do a natural pressure release for 5 minutes.

Plate up the beans and the pork chops and enjoy! I like to serve this meal with a side of fruit, or a side salad.

Natural Release vs Quick Release

The Instant Pot is one of my favorite kitchen tools because it cooks things so quickly. It’s able to cook things in little time because it builds up tons of pressure inside and allow foods to cook more quickly at lower temperatures. Once your food is done cooking, you have two options for how to release the pressure before you open it up: natural release or quick release.

A natural release simply means the Instant Pot sits for a few minutes after cooking and releases pressure slowly. After the cooking time has elapsed, let the Instant Pot sit, still plugged in, and let the pressure release slowly. For this recipe, you only need to let it sit for five minutes before opening it up.

The valve at the top of your Instant Pot allows for a quick release. If you don’t want to wait, you can flick the switch and let the steam out of the top. Be careful when doing this, as the steam can be extremely hot and might burn you. Doing a quick release can also cause some foods to become tough. If the recipe specifies a natural release, be sure to follow the instructions.

Ingredients

  • Pork Chops
  • 4 -5 medium thick boneless pork chops

  • 1 tbsp Italian seasoning

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 1 tsp pepper

  • 2 tbsp olive oil

  • Baked Beans
  • 1 yellow onion, diced

  • 1 15 oz can pinto beans

  • 1 15 oz can kidney beans

  • 1 15 oz can white beans

  • 1/4 cup brown sugar

  • 1/3 cup bbq sauce

  • 1 cup water

  • 1/2 cup ketchup

  • 2 tbs yellow mustard

  • 2 tsp chili powder

  • 1/8 tsp cayenne powder

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 1 tsp pepper

Directions

  • Pork Chops
  • Season the pork chops on both sides with Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. To a large skillet on the stove over medium-high heat, add the oil. Once the oil is hot, add the pork chops and cook on each side for 3-5 minutes, or until the outside is golden brown and a nice crust forms. This will help the pork chops to stay moist in the middle.
  • Once the internal temperature reaches 140โ„‰, remove from the skillet and place them on a cutting board. Let them rest there for 5 minutes before serving or cutting.
  • Instant Pot Baked Beans
  • Add all of the ingredients into the instant pot and cook on high pressure for 8 minutes. Do a natural pressure release for 5 minutes.

Julia – Your site description says “You only need basic kitchen items to cook with me! “, but these most recent recipes all require an Instant Pot, with no alternative instructions for those of us who just have “basic kitchen items”.

Update to mention that the slow cooker instructions (5-7 hours, same ingredients) are in the video – thank you!
