I’ve been making this French Onion Casserole for years, and it’s one of my favorites! This actually my mom’s recipe that she used to make for me when I was a kid. Now, I make it for my own kids! One of those full circle moments 🙂

Anyway, if you like that green bean casserole with the crispy onions on top at Thanksgiving, you are going to love this French Onion Casserole. Basically take that green bean casserole and swap the green beans for meat and pasta and you’re there. I mean, can’t you already tell you’re going to love it?

And, it’s so easy to make! This is a perfect meal for a Sunday dinner or even a weeknight where you want something just a little yummier than your usual rotation. Make this and let me know what you think.

French Onion Beef Casserole Ingredients

You’ll probably be surprised to find out what’s in this French Onion Casserole! I take a few pantry staples and one secret ingredient to make this delicious and creamy casserole.

large egg noddles
ground beef
cream of mushroom soup
Lay’s French Onion Dip
French’s fried onions

How to Make French Onion Casserole

Making this yummy dinner is pretty quick and for the most part hands-off. There are just a couple steps you have to do and they are beyond simple.

First, cook the pasta and drain it. I like to cook until al dente and strain with this nifty strainer I use every time I make pasta.

While the pasta is cooking, brown the ground beef in a skillet and drain the grease out. Add the noodles, ground beef, cream of mushroom soup, and French onion dip to a large bowl and mix together.

Pour everything into a greased 9×13, and top with the fried onions. Make it in this beautiful baking dish and it will feel dressed up!

Bake for about half an hour until everything is warm and creamy and delicious!

It was very good, but to suit my husband and I, I will probably add some diced onions, sour cream, and some of the french fried onions in the casserole and also on top.
I also found that putting the noodles back in the pan you cooked them in and mixing everything in that pan results in one less dish to wash. Which is a great help me being disabled.

  2. Quick and simple to throw together with a great flavor def kid friendly meal
