This hearty meat sauce tastes like it spent hours simmering on the stove, but you can have it on the table in 20 minutes.

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp olive oil

  • 1 white onion, diced

  • 2 large carrots, diced

  • 1 lb ground beef

  • 1 tbsp minced garlic

  • 1/3 cup beef broth

  • 2 tbsp tomato paste

  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

  • 28 oz can crushed tomatoes

  • 2 tsp dried oregano

  • 2 tsp dried basil

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 1 tbsp brown sugar

  • 10 oz spaghetti

Directions

  • To a large Dutch oven or pot over medium heat, add the oil. Once hot, add the onion, carrots, and ground beef. Break the ground beef up and cook it through.
  • Once cooked, remove any excess grease from the pot. Sir in the garlic and cook for 20 seconds. Add in the broth and let it simmer for 2 minutes. Add in the tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, crushed tomatoes, seasonings, and brown sugar. Simmer for at least 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Cook the spaghetti according to the package instructions. Drain and serve the sauce on top. Enjoy!

  1. I just made this from the cookbook tonight and it was delicious. Kids and adults enjoyed it and the house smelled amazing as it cooked. I’m going to make it for guests as I think it will impress and is so easy!
